Books I've read, and Christmas

Merry Christmas. I have been working a lot, but I did have Christmas Day off, and it was a good day with family.
Earlier this month I reread the English Garden Series by Lori Wick. I also reread her book The Princess. I use to say she was my favorite author. She is still one of my favorite and rereading some of her work reminds me why. She has a strong Christian foundation in her stories and is uncompromising in it. No, oh we are Christians and might talk about spiritual matters and what we believe ones or twice so we can call ourselves a “Christian book”, but the vast majority of the story has nothing to do with faith, or God, or living our lives as openly and completely Christian. I have read decent Christian books that are better than that, but still do not go as deep.
To give an example of the good I’m talking about, in one of her books, one lady has feelings for a man who is not a Christian (yet). She and her father talk and agree that she has no business having feelings for him. Rather than saying “well I can’t help how I feel” they work to bring every thought and feeling, captive under Christ. If you are feeling things you shouldn’t then you need to pray and work to get things back in line with God and Scripture. Personally, I feel like too often we use things like “The heart wants what it wants” as an excuse of not holding ourselves in check but rather to say “well I just can’t help it,” and then do what we want, rather then what’s right or wise. Anyway, I did not mean to go off on that little rant.
The author (Lori Wick) also has a wonderful sense of humor. There are funny things said and done in her books, and it helps the characters be real. I have not read all of her work, but I recommend her as an author.
On Christmas Day I also finally, FINALLY, finish the Kings’ Avatar. I starting it in March or April, and it has around 1727 chapters. It ended how I thought it would and certainly has some dull moments, but overall I enjoyed it. It has two seasons of anime, which I have seen. There’s also a live-action show that I plan to watch. And, call me crazy, I think there is a prequel book that I’m going to check out. It’s not as long. (25 chapters?)
Anyway, I hope you all had a great Christmas.
God Bless
