I have been thinking I need to write a blog post for months.
Sorry!
I have lots of excuses for why I have not written, but it always boils down to that it is just excuses.
I am writing. I have started writing or working on book-related things every day. Sometimes it’s just writing a sentence, and I have missed a day or two, but it has been really good. I use to think that if I did this it would feel like work, and I would hate it, and it would not be productive. But it has not been like that. In fact, by continuing to write I keep my head in the same space and the story flows easily. Now sometimes I do need to slow down or take a break from the story itself and work on other stuff (like this) so I can figure out where I’m going next and how in the story.
I was challenged to do this after watching a movie shown at my church. “The Insanity of God.” That movie and “The Free Burma Rangers” were movies shown at my church, and I highly recommend them. They can be a bit intense and not for young children, especially “The Free Burma Rangers.”
I said at one point I was listening to the Count of Monte Cristo. Well…I listened to one section of it, and I do plan to get back to it, but, no, I have not finished it.
I have gotten into something else though. I do not recommend it for everyone. I’m not sure I want to recommend it at all. It is fun, but it is NOT Christian. Critical Role. It’s a group of people (voice actors in fact) playing Dungeons and Dragons. A lot of language and not Christian themes or morals. So why do I listen/watch it? It has good storytelling. And it is fun. I am concise and aware. For some, this would be a nope. I understand. And this is why I am saying I don’t recommend it. Some people would have a problem with the magical and fantasy side of it alone. (My own parents probably would.) But I do write some fantasy so this is kind of up my alley. And for storytelling, it’s very interesting.
The DM creates the scenarios and leads the players along, and the players make up their own characters and backstories, but no one knows how things will really go. The DM sets up a scene but does not know what the players will choose to do and has to do extensive planning or make things up as they go (likely both). Likewise, the players do not know what the DM has planned or how other players will react. And no one knows how the dice will roll. A player could come up with an amazing speech to convince someone (persuasion) of something but have a terrible roll and so no one believes them. Or the reverse could be true. On the fly come up with an excuse that sounds terrible but roll high, and everyone believes them. (Sorry if you don’t know how DND works. I’m not going to explain it here.)
From a writer's perspective, it’s very interesting. And their storytelling is good. I’m listening/watching campaign two on YouTube.
Work has been good. Since I can’t write at work anymore that might have affected how much I write here too. But I think being busy at work might be good for me. I have less time to get myself in trouble because I’m bored. I’m too busy.
I did do Farmer’s Market again this year, which was good. And I’m going to do a one-day market of sorts coming up in Nov. I have stuff to make for it and stuff to finish that I’ve started. My Mom’s going to join me for this one.
Oh, I have a ferry, little friend now. Momiji the rabbit. (If you know Fruits Basket you understand the name.) I got him New Year's Eve. He is my little buddy. Not as needy as a dog or moody as a cat, so he is just perfect for me.
I think I have some people following my website now. (I’m not sure how this all works.) But if there is anything you will like me to read/talk about ect. Please let me know. I apologize it has taken me so long to write. I need to get my priorities straightened out along with what and how much time I give to certain things.
Thank you for reading
God Bless
